Reduction in Minimum Height from 170cm to 167cm: We applaud the relaxation of the minimum height criteria for soldiers from hilly states like Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh by 3cm. However, due to various factors such as the lack of nutritious food and physical work, the height of today’s youth has decreased significantly. The trend of urbanization and fast food has also affected rural areas.
Consequently, the youth from plains such as Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh also require this relaxation in height for joining the armed forces. The eligibility criteria related to height should be relaxed by 3 cm for these plains regions as well. We urge the government to reduce the minimum height requirement from 170 cm to 167 cm. This will ensure that capable youth can join the army without any disadvantage, strengthening the armed forces.
