Improvement in Recruitment System
Improvement in Recruitment System: The current recruitment system in the army, based on the Recruitable Male Population (RMP), needs to be reconsidered in light of the “Right to equality” enshrined in our Constitution under Article 14. Unlike the recruitment systems in the Air Force and Navy, which focus on competence at a national level rather than caste, religion, or region, the army’s recruitment system has regional disparities.
For instance, when there are forty vacancies, around thirty boys from Haryana can qualify based on competence. Similarly, in the Army, officers are selected regardless of caste, religion, or region. However, the recruitment policy for soldiers does not follow the same ‘All India Merit’ principle. We have humbly requested the Honorable Defense Minister of India to review the recruitment policy in the Army to ensure the selection of the most competent soldiers through a national-level examination.
